Resilience Cayman was formed in 2020 in response to COVID19 to address the immediate and long term issue of food insecurity for many residents who have been hard hit through job loss and business closures. We initially started operations under the management of Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce. Since November 1 2020, Resilience Cayman is registered as an independent NPO ( non-profit organization) in the Cayman Islands. In our first six months, we provided food assistance to 3,000 individuals and families in the form of food vouchers and daily meals.
We have also created summer internship opportunities and grants for 35 young Caymanian college students to ensure that they are able to continue their education and develop workplace skills for their future careers. Currently, we are running a Management Trainee Program in partnership with UCCI ( University College of teh Cayman Islands) and ICCI ( International College Cayman Islands).
Now Resilience Cayman has launched Local Market to provide residents with access to healthy local food without leaving their home, and at the same time show our support for Caymanian food growers and artisans.
